

An Anemone Big as a Whale
Whether or not you've ever laid eyes on either an anemone or a whale, you already know that something's wrong here, don't you? Just so we're clear, both of the aforementioned are not pictured in the photo on the right.
This is the story of a nutshell peek into U.S. Maritime history peppered with a few indelible colors of the human condition.
Not to mention some lady's desperate quest for an empty coffee can in the belly of a warship-turned-matinée-idol.

Amber Waves of Grain
As near as I can figure, I live somewhere smack-dab in the middle of the amber waves of grain - the ones we sang about every day back in kindergarten after Miss Bredice gave us a spirited middle-A toot on the pitch pipe.
Well, I guess that's them on the right because I'm out here in the breadbasket now - a mere hectare or two from some fella's sweet corn hobby. I shot that picture a couple of miles south of our house.
It's not really what I imagined amber waves would look like when I sang their praises back on the coast of the shining sea where I spent my youth. Snow-cover aside, it's a bit reminiscent of low tide at Calf Pasture Beach after Hurricane Donna.
